about the band

Echolalia is a passion project where all members are here to write and perform the kind of music we're all fans of. That is complex progressive metal which stirs souls, tells a compelling story and soars with epic modern and neo classical riffs and motifs.

The band includes vocalists Tamir Lousky and Atar Abramson, Om Ben Shira on keyboards, Bar Aharon on guitar, Raul Kanyas on bass on Ido Rosenberg on drums.

The band is working on their first EP called Manifest Destiny. This is a three part concept album which tells the story of humanity's failed attempt to flee and colonize space after rendering Earth inhospitable.

Where did this cool name come from you ask?

The meaning of the word Echolalia is a vocal imitation, the repetition of sounds, words or vocalizations made by others - the sound only with no regard to the meaning. It's a natural part of learning in children, but can also by a symptom in some forms of autism, Tourette syndrome and other conditions.

A colloquial, less formal definition also includes "internal echolalia", in which you might have a word, sound or phrase stuck in your head and played on repeat involuntarily. Everybody probably experiences this, but in can be a real nuisance for some neurodivergent people.

We chose this name as a self conscious nod to the fact that all music, and all art even, is derivative and repetitive of other art, often with copying and inspiration with no regard (or even in opposite) to the original meaning.
